Reports from Agence France-Presse (AFP) indicated that authorities found cannabis in the rapper’s possession in the early hours of Sunday, according to prosecutors.

Romanian law classifies cannabis as a “risk drug.” If Khalifa is convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison, as reported by the outlet.

In a statement to the French outlet on Sunday, the Romanian anti-organised crime prosecutors organisation DIICOT stated that the “See You Again” rapper smoked cannabis onstage during his performance.

“During a performance at a music festival held in the resort of Costinesti, the accused was found to have possessed more than 18 grams of cannabis and to have consumed (onstage) another quantity in the form of a handmade cigarette,” they said in the statement.

A source speaking to the outlet also claimed that Khalifa was questioned by local authorities on Sunday along with several others.

Although charged, he was released soon after. AFP reported that the investigation is still ongoing.
